The PHD Design Team support Sparkle Malawi
North Wales design agency, Paul Hewitt Design, along with its sister company PHD Marketing, has lent its voluntary expertise to The Sparkle Foundation - a charity that focuses on the health, education, nutrition and sustainability of communities in Malawi, one of the world's poorest countries.09 Feb 2018
The charity currently works with orphans and vulnerable children across 10 rural villages in an area that – like much of Malawi – is struggling to surmount generations of economic and public health challenges.
Malawi’s HIV-Aids problem is one of the worst globally, with more than one million children left orphaned and tens of thousands of its citizens dying each year from the disease. 45 per cent of the country’s 18 million population is under the age of 15, leading to abject childhood poverty. The Sparkle Foundation works with some of these children and empowers them up to the age of 18 to develop sustainable ways to escape from the cycle of disadvantage.
The Paul Hewitt Design team is supporting the charity’s work by providing voluntary assistance in brand identity development, marketing tools and design. The key objectives being to help the charity increase revenue, strengthen volunteer recruitment and build brand awareness via support to digital campaigns to boost engagement.
Paul Hewitt, Managing Director, said: ‘‘Sparkle is the nominated charity of one of our clients, Cornelius Group. We got involved when we learned about the desperate situation on the ground and are delighted to offer our services to support what is a fantastic charity. We’ve always done some free of charge work for a variety of local charities, but now we’ve dedicated our time and effort to this one project in partnership with our sister company, PHD Marketing over in West Yorkshire to ensure we can truly contribute and make a difference to them.”
Sarah Brook, CEO and founder of The Sparkle Foundation added: ‘‘Having the support from Paul Hewitt Design will make a huge difference to our work. There’s so much for us to do on the ground that it’s a struggle to leverage the marketing and PR strategy to its full potential. Having their backing will make a huge difference to our brand awareness and revenue generation.’’
Partnering with local and international volunteers, The Sparkle Foundation is a UK-registered charity and international NGO, which sets up sustainable small-scale projects to help give disadvantaged children hope for a brighter future. Their vision is to develop a self-sufficient model, which can be replicated in communities around the world, with long-term sustainable impact at the heart of everything they do.
Focussing on generating incomes rather than relying on international donations, the social enterprise helps individuals and communities to use their natural resources, experience and ideas to overcome poverty.
Paul Hewitt Design is a Wrexham-based agency which provides design and marketing services to distribution, manufacturing, technology and science businesses in the UK and internationally. An end-to-end marketing solutions provider in partnership with its sister agency, PHD Marketing & Strategy, the two companies deliver a range of services from brand development and management to PR and digital content marketing.
